Hearing the voice of God

How often have you wished you could simply ask God for direction and He would tell you what to do? Does this seem odd or mystical to you. Maybe a bit on the crazy side or does it bare with your soul that if we are Gods creation, that He would intend that we would know His voice as clear as we would know our own earthly fathers.
If there is one thing I have learned about hearing the voice of God, it's that He is fully capable of communicating to us in many different ways. The most obvious is through His word and the conviction of the Holy Spirit working in our life. I've also learned that God communicates with us throughout the day.
Learning to hear Gods voice starts with a willingness to hear and obey what you feel He has said or spoken to you. Just as when we read the scriptures and see that God directs our steps such as meeting the needs of others or sharing His message with those we come in contact with, God can and does direct us throughout the day. It's the still small voice that leads us to often change our daily habitual direction and leads us to encounter someone who simply needs to talk. It's that still small voice that led my wife and I to find and adopt our daughter from a Ukrainian Orphanage five years ago. The fact is, there are many decisions that we can be grateful God directs us in as we can then move in confidence that He has led us to make the decision.
My challenge to you today is to ask God to help you hear His voice and remember if you ask Him, be faithful to follow what you determine to be His leading. This is a great way to learn how to hear the voice of God through continual training to hear and obey and hear and obey some more! God desires to direct your life not only through the scriptures but also through His personal communications to you as his very precious child!
Bring it on Lord, were listening...
